Something that goes along with knowing the maps and the flow of enemies, as well as the control points, is knowing how spawns work. Enemies don't spawn based on which points you control, but by where your team is on the map. If you've got B and C, but you push to close to A, the enemy will start spawning behind you even if you don't actually take A. And when they start spawning behind you, they're going to take C, because it's there and it's undefended. Meaning you've got to turn around and run back to C, and will either get shot in the back by someone still at A/B, or shot in the face by someone waiting for you at C.
So, know how close you can push to the enemy's control point before flipping the spawn, because the better you understand where the enemy is coming from, the easier it will be to get kills. With Control, you only really need to play offense to secure the first two points, after that you can switch to defense and hold the points you've got. Don't worry, it doesn't matter who you're playing against, they're going to come to you.
