Atheism is growing nationwide because the younger generations have been able to use the Internet to educate themselves and decide for themselves what they believe rather than blindly following their parents. It's not just in the gaming community, it's everywhere. As science and technology advance, religion and faith become more and more obsolete. It's the evolution of human thought.

Or maybe there has always been a big atheist population, and the Internet has allowed people who have no belief in a spirtual realm, to have more exposure.

Also, as Lawrence Krauss says: religion can go away with just one generation. Not to sound evil or anything, but just imagine it. A world free of old laws of thought and where everyone can study life and learn about science. 1 year in and we'll already know how to cure cancer.

Religious freedom means freedom from religion. Also, were not talking about just America, nor trying to take away people's freedom. The world can not exist without religion in terms of literature. But it should be taught as fiction, as science should be taught as fact to everyone. We must educate children on the world. Or else We'll keep seeing groups like ISIS and the Westburo Baptist Church. Do you really want that?

People should learn science, but having religion widely promoted as just fiction proceeds to subtly override religious freedom.

We're not taking anyone's freedom or religion away, we are just encouraging science. Religion SHOULD be taught as fiction in schools, but that not only means it probably won't but if a child were to believe in it, why not?
