Destiny is a fun game, dont get me wrong, but it would be nice if there was a storyline. Every time there is an opportunity to explain a major part of the game, characters just tell you things like "there's no time to explain" or other BS like that. And i mean, your guardian dude just returns from the dead at the beginning of the first mission and doesnt seem to give a crap (nor is it mentioned again). The gameplay is great, but even twilight had a better plot
Edit: Bungie has very little room for error in this next expansion, it would be a shame if their good name was ruined due to false advertising

1 ReplyStory line is a Playstation exclusive!

If they can't even fit a bunch of weapon icons on screen, how the hell can you expect a story in the game. Last gen would catch fire..

I've played destiny hundreds of hours. And I still don't know jack shit about the story. And at this point, I stopped caring. The cutscenes, dialogue, and characters all exist to annoy me because nothing they say makes any semblance of sense. It's like your ghost assumes you already know everything. 4 RepliesBump. Bungie need to fill in more gaps that are in the story. It would make the PVE less of a waist of time.

1 ReplyNo that's for Destiny 3

no u cannot get a story line

Lol I like this post bump

1 ReplyI wouldn't mind a book set in the Destiny universe. There's a lot of great lore established in the Grimoire Cards. However, Bungie needs to straighten out their priorities and flesh out the core story before even thinking of delving into side stories.

Once upon a time a guardian was ignored. - and then there was only death

The lack of good storytelling and the amount if DLC was what kinda killed my hype. I might use the 35 bucks for the expansion pass on a steam game where you fly around as a dragon and wreck stuff...

1 ReplyEdited by Legend of Jordy: 3/18/2015 6:00:31 AMThe Story... Umm ok.
Once upon a time, there lived a beautiful queen. The queen had a brother, he didn't like anything. One day the queen decided to throw a ball. She and her fallen friends danced and pointed and played while the ball floated off into the reef. The queen's brother still didn't like anything. And all was just and happy in the kingdom of the reef until an intruder bearing 127 crossed into the realm of the awoken and was fired on by order of the queen. 2 Replies"even twilight had a better plot" OUCH! I laughed hard when I read that... So true it hurts.

Archive Mission: "Welcome Dr Shim." Ghost tells you to ignore it. Maybe we, the player, is meant to be this Dr Shim. Why bring back someone if they weren't important? Dr Shim (the player) was studying the vex, who are the major threat... So ghost revives them to assist in the struggle. Who better to defeat the vex than the one who understood them the most from the human race? Ah, but we will never know because the story was trimmed down in true activision style to release via DLC. A broken story. In the words of that irritating, half assed 'little light', let us speculate on what could have been and finish with: "[Dr Shim?] Oh wait... never mind that."

What do you want with a story? Stories are only fun once, then they just get in the way. There's a reason people are clamoring for skipping cutscenes.

Bump.

Edited by Mazzilla69: 3/27/2015 11:58:48 PMYeah i get your point and i agree that destiny has its flaws in the storyline but it doesnt mean that destiny doesnt have a good story. In my opinion the story in destiny is awesome and interesting like the campaing is just a intro what tells you what is going on in the world of destiny. Think about dark souls. In dark souls you learn more about the story by exploring and reading item descriptions and that is also the case in destiny and if you dont believe me go check out steves (aka. Terramantis) lore video about crota on youtube. That video shows how awesome the story in this game can be. And what comes to the grimoire cards all the information about enemies, factions and guns is writed really well. But these are just my opinions

5 RepliesWow people that care about the story are still here?

3 RepliesWhat if there is a REASON we dont know the story. What if our CHARACTER doesbt k ow whats going on? We are blindly following what we are told!!! And whos telling us what to do!? The ghosts! And who tells the ghosts what the traveler wants? Thats right. The speaker.

After playing Destiny over the span of the last six and a half months I have grown to realize something. The story isn't there because you are supposed to make your own story, with your friends in the same repetitive strikes, raids, or missions week after week. The story that is told in Destiny is equivalent of that of Minecraft. Sure, you have objectives but there is not much of a story behind those objectives, and once you have completed them the most fun comes from your friends. Destiny's fixed missions and boring patrol environments are easily outdone by Minecraft's superior multiplayer experience. You cannot even choose the map you want to play on in Crucible or have the option of a private match. Minecraft lets you create anything you want. Although Minecraft's weapon selection is limited there is so much more to do and explore. All I am saying is that playing Destiny limits you to the fixed missions or bland patrols with only 3-6 people while Minecraft lets you explore a huge world freely and adventure by yourself or up to 8 friends.
Sponsored by Microsoft #MCFTW
