Look up a game from 1999 called Freespace 2. Absolutely awesome game, graphics were phenomenal, fun story. The company folded, but just before they did they released the source code, so it was supported by the community until about 2008. I was also interested to see how Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning would have developed, but that studio not only folded, but I guess they ripped off the state of Rhode Island, too.
