It does matter. When I play with my lvl 30 warlock and maxed out Suros and Judgement VI shotty (sue me) I can dominate an iron banner match. On more then one occassion I carried my team to victory. Yesterday I was playing with my lvl 25 titan, equipped with 2 rare armor pieces and without maxed weapons. I had an extremely difficult time competing and mostly ended up near or at the bottom of the list. Imo, this is how IB should be. And I still think IB should be a standard mode in Destiny. Bungie should come up with some other ideas that can be used as events.
