What's your reaction to the canceled pre-orders Ghost and Limited Edition?
With Destiny coming up out now in less then a month, two major retailers have notified a in specified amount of customers that the their special edition of Destiny was canceled due to over pre ordering of that edition. First with Walmart and the Ghost Edition, now Beat Buy with Limited, I'm really disappointed to see that that a group of fans and players WILL NOT get the Edition that they pre ordered. But who is to blame? Most would think the retailer who took the pre orders, thinking that there would be an abundance of copies of each Edition, when this was not the case. However, to put the blame strictly on the retailers isn't true my fair considering there has to be some communication issue between Activision and the retailers themselves. With this set aside I want to hear the communities reaction! I wanna hear from anyone who has possibly gotten their pre-ordered canceled, or maybe couldn't pick one up due to the lack of pre-orders. Or if your an outraged or concerned fan of the series or Bungie on the subject and matter.

If mine had been canceled id be pretty pissed, but I'm not going to fault bungie and activision for making limited and special editions actually limited. However you can't have retailers overselling your product. If it was a communication issue bungie and activision need to issue a statement and address it. But who knows it could also be that walmart and best buy expected, like everybody else, that they'd be making a huge supply of them, and just over sold it. It's a bum deal either way.

There are empty prescription bottles you can put my ashes into. Included is an head start on the auctioning of my belongings at a discounted price.! But wait there's also a replica model of me reading my email from Kmart you can put on your desk. It has 3 presets of -blam!-! You've got to be -blam!-ing kidding me! Plus, Goodbye cruel world! For the record, my ghost order is still safe, for now. I've just woken up in a pool of sweat a few times and, well, my behavior should, at this point be expected. good luck

I still have my ghost so that's to bad for some but some of those people may have put the ghost or limited up on ebay so they deserve to have it canceled. But those who have't they should sue or go kick so ass.

i got mine at gamestop, and i got it two weeks before the beta started....no cancellation

Best buy didnt cancel my limited and I got mine like 2 or three days after the beta ended.

It really is unacceptable, but with the traffic on those sites i can see how that kind of error can happen. I was going to get the ghost edition, it was only available at walmart, but my parents made we wait a day and it sold out over night. Thankfully i was able to get a copy of the limited edition from Best Buy, and my order hasnt been canceled.

It's sucks really, fellow gamers looking forward to a special edition denied because of a management error. Sadly I have no answers on what to do, the day they were announced I went to my usual gamestop and changed the reservation.

I have the limited edition for ps4 preordered at Best Buy. Called this morning and they said I am still good to go. i know that could change but hopefully i will get it as planned. I would blame the retailers exclusively because unlike Gamestop that manages how many copies they can actually get, I think the other retailers just open up preorders and then communicate with the distrubutor afterwards, finding out they cannot get as many as they have orders for. Its laziness on their part imo.

That's why you must always pre-order right away when they start taking pre-orders, to guarantee you'll get the edition you want.

1 RespuestaTypically, when a product is as limited as the limited and ghost editions for Destiny were, the publisher (Activision) provides each retailer with a very specific allocation. The allocations for Destiny were seemingly not provided to the retailers, and the retailers were simply told to begin pre-orders and that they were limited so do it quickly. After the pre-orders were taken the publisher came back and said they were not going to be providing as many as were pre-ordered. My guess as to why this happened is that the publisher may have been trying a new approach, and just letting all the retailers have a free for all and letting the demand dictate who got what. Not a bad idea, but it obviously failed in practice (failed the customers, that is). Now another theory (and given the retailers who have been cancelling pre-orders, this is very likely), the retailers continued taking pre-orders after being told to stop by the publisher. In this case the blame falls [i]almost[/i] entirely on the retailer, though the publisher is still not blameless as they did not provide proper allocations.

5 RespuestasI say GOOD!!!! The word Limited gets thrown around far too much with games these days. It usually translates to 'extra content' rather than genuinely 'limited' It's the retailers faults as much as the game companies. The retailers were told 'you have X amount of this allocated to you' but the retailers came back with 'you gave us X, we've sold Y, can we get Z more?' Obviously the answer was No. But then again would this have happened if the phrase Limited Edition wasn't just a sticker on every game out there? Personally I've never seen a copy of Perfect Dark Zero that WASNT in the 'limited edition' steel-book case. I say Kudos to Bungie, stick to your guns. Even if that means I can't get a Ghost Edition!!!

Never pre order from a non trusted source. Wallmart I'd the last place is think to pre order a game.
