an auction would break the system, making the hard modes for lower lvl characters a lot easier to purchase gear for it. making it easier for crucible players to get the weapon they want etc. to be completely honest, the loot system in this game works very well, having personalized loot, always earning something. the only real thing an auction would do is cut down on farming. and this game makes farming actually decently fun.
