Why shouldn't it be a game played as a family? Say there is a family that has 3 brothers in it who are good friends, close to the same age (14-16) and they each have access to their own console in some way. They could then join up as a fireteam and take on strikes or other missions together, and since they are in the same family and good friends, their teamwork would be much better than if some guys got randomly paired up together.
