What is there to defend?
The bottom line of the spying issue is that it helps no one; not the country, not the peace, and most certainly of all not you.
yet in the related thread I see people bending over backwards trying to defend it for [b]literally no reason at all[/b] - why?
And saying "I don't care" in this case is the same as saying "I support it"

After all, if the Government is spying on you, anonymity here isn't going to help you. So the fact that most people feel safe saying this stuff only on anonymous websites seems a bit silly to me.

Well just that I thought the same before I left for college. I just think it might be a good idea to get some years under your belt before you spout that kind of silliness. I did it and looked silly myself. Would not recommend it.
