Space battles not happening?

So apparently (from this statement, not 100% but pretty close), space flight is off the cards and will be restricted to just fast travel between planets. Although I had my doubts about this being in the game, this is kind of disappointing for quite a few people, and even me as I thought they did space combat quite well in Reach, and thought maybe there would be maybe a percentage chance (maybe %10) you would be attacked by some alien ships while fast travelling and have to defeat them before reaching your destination.
Are you guys disappointed by this? Thoughts?

1 RespuestaI think I'm one of the only people who didn't care if this happened or not. To make a game as vast as Bungie is making this game seem, they were going to have to skip out on certain stuff. They wanted this game to be first and foremost an FPS and that's what they're doing. There's always the possibility of it being a thing in a future game, I'm sure they wanted to lay a ton of ground work into the first game of the series.
