The fact is, Mrs. Clinton, is that it [i]does[/i] matter. Understanding the reasons as to why the terrorists did what they did is a crucial part of finding, understanding, and eliminating the threat itself. This is why we delve into the societal, economic, and political conditions, for example, of Afghanistan to better understand the groups operating against us there instead of just blowing up terrorist enclaves. This is pure incompetence in the part of Clinton, and I can only hope her replacement is much more effective than she is.

It makes a difference, Madam Secretary, because the state department lied about it for three weeks in what could persuasively be argued as an attempt to downplay the blunder and prevent this situation from destroying the president's chances of reelection. Frankly, he should have lost the election because of what occurred, and they knew that, and tried desperately to cover the truth so that when the deception was revealed, it would have been old news and out of the minds of the citizens.
