Hello Bungie team,
I’d like to propose some suggestions for PvP that I believe could make both Trials of Osiris and Competitive feel fresher, more rewarding, and balanced overall.
TRIALS OF OSIRIS – SUGGESTED CHANGES
Weekly Modifiers for Gameplay Variety
Close-Teamplay Buff: Staying close to teammates grants extra handling and reload speed.
Independent/Flanking Buff: Playing farther away grants extra sprint speed to help regroup or flank effectively.
Ability Spam Check: Overuse of abilities should apply a cooldown generation penalty, preventing spam and encouraging more tactical use.
These modifiers would change week-to-week and shift how matches play out, keeping the mode from feeling repetitive.
Loadout Diversity through Voting
Add a voting system that allows players to ban certain weapon archetypes, weapons, or abilities for the week.
This would reduce frustration of facing the exact same meta loadouts repeatedly and help keep Trials engaging.
Rewards Structure
Rewards should be based on win streak or rank performance, not power level.
This encourages consistent skillful play rather than just farming power advantages.
COMPETITIVE PLAYLIST – SUGGESTED CHANGES
Rank-Based Loot System
The higher the rank, the better the loot tier.
Example:
Ascendant Rank should only drop Tier 5 rewards.
Within Ascendant, loot quantity scales by division:
Ascendant I: 3 drops per win
Ascendant II: 2 drops per win
Ascendant III: 1 drop per win
This creates meaningful progression and makes climbing rank more rewarding beyond just bragging rights.
CHEATING AND ACCOUNT SUSPENSION SYSTEM
If a player account receives 40–50 reports within a single day, the system should trigger a temporary suspension from playing Trials or Competitive.
The account remains locked from these playlists until a Bungie employee manually investigates the case and either lifts or upholds the restriction.
Additionally, if a cheater carried a team in Trials or Comp, all rewards and rank points earned during those matches should be removed from their teammates. A warning should also be sent to anyone found intentionally queueing with cheaters so they are discouraged from doing it again.
This creates a faster response to suspected cheaters and reduces the frustration of encountering them repeatedly while still ensuring fairness through human review.
ADDITIONAL SANDBOX BALANCE FEEDBACK
Titan Barricades in PvP require inconsistent amounts of damage to destroy depending on the weapon type used, creating imbalance in engagements.
Currently, Titan Barricades in PvP do not have a uniform damage model across weapon archetypes. For example, some primary weapons shred barricades much faster, while others — even within the same damage tier — require significantly more bullets. This creates situations where player effectiveness against a barricade depends less on skill or weapon choice, and more on arbitrary damage interactions that feel inconsistent and unbalanced.
Because Titan Barricades are already a strong defensive tool that reset engagements and control space, their durability should be predictable and consistent across all weapon types. Right now, this variability gives Titans an unintended advantage depending on the opponent’s loadout, reducing fairness in competitive play.
REQUESTED REVIEW:
Please review and normalize how different weapon types apply damage to Titan Barricades in PvP. Standardizing the health/damage interaction would ensure that counterplay is fair and predictable, while still allowing Barricades to serve their role as temporary defensive cover.
Any replies on this topic will be heavily appreciated.
