Theory: The Taken were originally the Veil/Fifth Race
This is a crackpot theory I just thought of. Also, keep in mind im high af on Blue Dream, so take this with a grain of salt. I think the Taken were supposed to be the 5th race back in Destiny 1 before the story got changed? Why, lemme tell you.
The Dreadnought is a black, 4-sided ship, whereas the Pyramid ships are 3 sided. Honestly, The Dreadnought and the mini dreadnoughts were probably the original pyramid ships.
As for who would pilot these ships? Easy, the Taken, who were originally supposed to be the Darkness. Think about it, the race that caused the collapse being copies of our enemies, but in a ghostly black? Sounds an awful lot like the Veil to me. Thoughts on this theory would be appreciated.

4 RespuestasThe very existence of Taken Primevals supports this theory, IMHO. As far as I know, they were "born" that way and not due to being "taken", and are apparently much older than other Taken. I'm a little sketchy on this portion of the lore, so someone else will need to confirm any of this... but I smell a story yet to be told here. Of course, this would then have some implications regarding Oryx's ability to Take, after he "communed with the Deep". When someone or something is Taken, where do they go? And do Taken Primevals originate from there? I think you're on to something with this "fifth race" theory.
