I get it that top tier people had a terrible experience with wait times, lag, etc. and from that perspective I can agree that CBMM is an improvement for those people. In fact, I would say most people would prefer to have short wait times between matches and no lag... who wouldn't? That said, there needs to be something in place for casual playlists to allow people of all skill levels to be able to play PvP and "enjoy" it enough that they don't mind jumping in and playing. With pure CBMM lower skilled players will continue to slowly stop playing it. That trend will continue until all that is left are the "top tier" players because NOBODY enjoys repeatedly getting their butts handed to them. Top tier players typical response.... "get good, scrub". What those top tier players don't realize is that not everyone wants to get good enough to compete with the top tier players. Most people just want to go in and enjoy their HOBBY. It's a job to be a PvP god and most people just don't want a 2nd job. That doesn't mean they want it easy, they just want fair competition. It's not fair competition when you are in the bottom 25% and are playing in a lopsided lobby against a team of top 40-30% players. It's not fun to get mowed down so fast, so often, that you spend most of the match just spawning in. So, how do you "fix" this? Could dedicated servers fix it and allow the benefits of CBMM while using SBMM? Honestly, I don't know. If dedicated servers can't fix it (or Bungie continues to refuse to use them) then what [b]might[/b] make it somewhat better would be to have some sort of handicap system. The goal of a handicap system would be to simply help mitigate the skill gap to allow players of ANY skill level to be matched up and be able to at least not hate the experience. Does that mean a noob should be able to destroy a top tier player? No, but it would be nice if the noob wasn't just spawning in all match long. Healthy PvP needs a large player base, so whatever can be done to facilitate that the better.
