(Spoilers) Did anyone else catch this week's invitation of the 9 dialogue?
Could this small "back and forth" from this week have bigger implications? Are some characters in this game becoming self aware? What do you guys/girls think?
Quoting from memory, but this is the basic exchange:
"He can leave this place."
"This plane? We can leave this plane?"
"Think bigger. He can leave this game."

So it seems the dialogue changes slightly depending on your personal character's gender. "He" is replaced by "She" if your guardian is a female. So, apparently they are talking about us.

7 RespuestasThey could be 4th wall breaking. The nine shouldn’t be able to do this to my knowledge. The only things that have done this are Ahamkara(if I was making a wish I might wish them back to existence under the condition they aren’t murderers), and I don’t see how a bunch of psycho ghosts who quit the light could help a traitorous lady break the fourth wall. Maybe game didn’t mean video game and meant invitations?

But after this week, I'm beginning to think they have been talking about us, our guardians, this entire time. We certainly do murder all the aliens we come in contact with as well as other guardians in crucible, before they murder us. And this week the chest appeared right after the emissary answered Power, when asked what he or she, based on gender of your current guardian, was seeking. Interesting move on Bungie's part, imo. And is making me look forward even more for the next week's Xur bounty.

There's some meta-lore going on. Basically it's all gonna wind up with a philosophy, or ideology, Bungie has featured in its games for decades. It's spanning several multiverses and then goes beyond. I should make a thread real quick.

I thought maybe i was reading too much into it but maybe not...hopefully, it's the vex simulation thing and not a corny "hey, we are in are video game dur lol". The story is too serious to all of a sudden be a silly "don't take me seriously" kind of deal.

5 RespuestasI first realized they were speaking about us when the Emissary says "Pronoun wants power..." and then the chest drops. If you open the chest at that moment, I'm not sure you'll hear every bit of dialogue for the week as the timer will begin to tick down. Meaning, either you're proving them right in only wanting power, or wrong, that you're curious about the world around you. At least, that's just my theory, I'd need someone to test by opening the chest as soon as it spawns.

2 RespuestasI am not the type to rain on parades... however, Do you guys really care? I mean the 'invitations' have been so crypticly paultry. I like lore, but, as a feature of this dlc... I am beyond bored. 3 or 4 sentences, a week. Wow! There goes bungie knocking it out of the park yet again. Week one was an A+ Every week since an F. It's not the in-game engine... I'm down with that... Nothing happens. I'm not feeling my suspense ratchetting-up. It's boring.

As stated in a reply before, I don’t think this was breaking the 4th wall. Mara mentioned before about the Nine and their game’s. I think this was a way for the emissary to communicate to us in a way that the Nine wouldn’t understand to tell us we don’t have to be associated with them. Maybe it’s a warning that the Nine are evil, but the fact that Mara mentioned that, makes me think this.

8 Respuestas“Game” can be interpreted in 2 different ways A : The Nines schemes and tricks ,Mara stated that the Nine and their “Games” never end B : Straight logging out of the game ,although this is a crazy idea I don’t think it should be in the destiny lore ,4th wall breaks like this do not really sit well with me in a game like this because it just wouldn’t really fit ,but was cool to hear at first

Like others have said about the long running rumor of the game being a simulation. What if in the “real world” we’ve already lost against the darkness (post second collapse) and Destiny is made to simulate pre second collapse in perpetuity till we find a way to beat it. Kinda reminds me of the Matrix. How the real world ends up looking nothing like the simulated one. I know time travel dose exist in the game but I wonder if that’s only possible in the supposed simulation or genuinely possible in the theoretical real world. 🤔 Ether way, I found this week very interesting.
