They replaced heavy synths with guaranteed ammo on yellow enemies. I don't know why more people don't dump heavy on those enemies, you'll get the ammo back if you pump in as much as you get out.
That being said, ammo synths were just fun to have to go kill things with an unneeded amount of firepower in the patrol areas. I would vote for them back if I could.

During any heroic public event there is an unneeded amount of firepower, purple brinks and chaos everywhere.

But sometimes I just wanna try out my new sniper, skulk around the outskirts of the map, and snipe dregs without having to farm yellow elites or busy myself with a public even (if your by yourself, which sometimes is the case). Like, what's the harm in that? If there really is so much ammo then synths won't be a problem regardless IMO. Personally, I understand no one needs or should need synths, but they're still a way to ease the game of one more grinding aspect when you could just hop in, shoot some guys with a powerful gun, and chill. Why take out something that wasn't broken, I suppose.
