Hi again
I'm not the best at this stuff, I have a net gear router (attached to the one my isp gave me)
I have enabled qos and given the ps4 Mac highest priority.
How do I give it a fixed ip?
I only have option to give the router itself a fixed ip

just look up your DHCP settings and it should tell you the starting and ending IP addresses it will auto dish out. (might be on the LAN tab?) Just pick an IP outside that range, like if it runs from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.100, set it to like 101, or 150 doesn't really matter. Then change the IP address on your console.

Ye mine goes from .2 to .244 or something So I set my router as a fixed ip?

Your router is your network gateway, and will have a static IP already on the LAN side. Based on what you're telling us it's probably 192.168.0.1 or something similar, and DHCP is set up to hand out 192.168.0.2 - 244 (or something similar). He's talking about assigning a static ip to your console as well. If what you're telling us is correct, you could reserve .245 for your console, or actually anything that's excluded from DHCP, which would be anything from .245 - .254. Not that you'll ever need to lease 243 addresses, but it's always best practice not to manually assign an ip address to a system that could potentially also be assigned by DHCP. Hope that helps!

Thanks I think I get it now. Do u think I need to do anything on the main router that my isp provided? ( this is the one that is connected to the fibre cable from the street) my netgear router doesn't have the socket for the fibre cable or I would just have used it directly and thrown the isp one away lol
