Roleplay
I know that I'm about to summon a huge shitstorm, but I'm genuinely curious.
RP is dying; things seem very bleak for it's future. I ask: what is so bad about RP? Offtopic is already a neverending stream of shitposts and thirst, with gimmick members around every corner. If RP is as bad as some on this forum say it is, then it's actually better than the content in Offtopic.
So, I ask you: why? Why the RP resentment? We're people no stranger than you all. You've all rolplayed in your life, at one point or another.

I think things like ERP are not only drawing people away, but making it cringy as hell. And seeing a lot of the new RP's..well...it looks like they rely on it

I was here since the golden age, I saw what no newbie will ever see! Now it's everybody clinging to themselves, grasping what ever unoriginal garbage thread separated and in an anti social aura. 2 RespuestasIt depends on the people Some despise it, and see it as cancer Others like me enjoy it, it's a way to create a story through "interactions" with other people using characters we make ourselves Most people only see the "new age" of RPers doing their usual OP bullshit stuff, the originals are more floating around I consider myself an original, been here long enough and in RP to know how to do it well, and actually "fight", instead of "I stab you, your dead" Although, I will do something like that if I get the chance, simply because I actually think the fight through But, that's beside the point RP can be done correctly, and the way I see it; It's a way to write a story, with characters I can think of, in ways I can imagine Basically how it is

2 RespuestasIf I RP, it's while playing D&D or a similar game. Much easier to play a game with a defined set of parameters than "oh, I say I have sharp titanium claws that cut steel, you die because I say so" And it's much more fun to roll 20 or 1 and see the results. Last time my friend nat 20'd, he used a wooden pendant with no magic properties to break a magical ice barrier that encased a level 40 demon. At the start of a lvl 1 campaign.
