I consider my self to be a pretty good player, especially on my hunter. The issue is that it's legitimately not fun to try hard all the time which is why most games have social playlists that are Unranked and you can mess around in. Now, even though there is no rank associated with the playlist that the player can see, all the playlists behave like ranked playlists. It gets tiring and I for one don't enjoy the crucible at all right now while even during the mess that was the HoW, I found that much more enjoyable and relaxing.
