Trans people are an oppressed minority and are even murdered because of being who they are. The LGBT rights movement is akin to the civil rights movement in every way so it's only logical that we have days dedicated to the remembrance and respect of them. Transgender Remembrance Day, Day of Silence, National Coming Out Day, etc.
