Agree 100%. It would make prices of everything go up which would hurt everyone. Those of us that make over the new minimum would suffer an almost doubled cost of living. The people that are bumped up would as well, but would artificially not feel much at first because of the bump in pay It would cause worker animosity "I've been here twice as long just to make that and this guy gets it first day?" It would just all in all be a terrible idea
-
Prices already go up without it.
-
Exactly. But it would be much much worse as the companies would now have an excuse to charge more. Imagine a $12 gallon of milk. Or a McDonald's $20 menu
-
Eventually it will probably be that way and minimum wage will still barely have went up. No one should be trying to survive off minimum wage yet there is people that have to still.
-
Yep. Ideally minimum wage is the bare minimum needed for 1 person to survive. It's not been that way in so long, any change on either side of the equal marks affects the other so drastically that it will never be equal again.
-
I completely agree. It'll raise up everything in sales because companies now have to pay their workers much more.
-
Yup, can't start taking away profits from the higher ups. Once you start doing that, they will start raising prices, firing employees, etc. I think the idea that this will work stems from trickle down economics, which never really works

Using robots to flip burgers at McDonalds would be cheaper than hiring real people, and then atleast 1 million people lose their jobs.
-
It would be cheaper in the long run, but more expensive up front. That's why they don't want to do it.
