Well it's simple Destiny: Legendary Edition was the midnight launch The Taken King is a DLC that's bundled with the LE but, it does not actually go live until your zone's weekly reset (in my case four A.M, central) DLC very, very rarely goes live at midnight (unless your time zone happens to be midnight), it always released when either the game hits it's weekly reset or when the console's marketplace updates, which usually happen at the same time.
