See these are all very very good tips, except one problem...
As soon as this becomes popular, which it probably will because it's super effective, people stop being dumb. The ward is basically a giant sign that says "avoid me". Ass soon as you see one you run away. Suddenly you aren't getting any kills...

This too can have it's own strategic value as Destiny ages. You can use this WoD to firmly secure the advantageous Spawn while your Teammates aggressively pushes into the enemy spawn with Supers and shotguns to rack up kills.

That's a good point. As the game continues new strategies will form. The ward of down will find its place. Sunbreaker will find [i]it's[/i] place sooner.
