[b]Why don't you use the color of someone's skin to describe them?[/b] Earlier today, a woman who works at the grocery store with me came up to me and pointed out that this one woman was going up to the "bag your own" section full of nuts and candies and would fill up a bag and eat it while she shopped. She said she was going to say something if she saw her do it again. When I asked "Which woman?" she said, "The woman with the turquoise turban thing." It was hardly a turban but eventually I figured out which woman she was talking about. What I don't get it why she didn't refer to her as "the big/fat black lady." Why are people so afraid to use someone's skin color to describe them? Another example: when I'm playing pick-up basketball games at my gym. "Who's on our team?" "You, me, him, him, and the guy in the white shirt over there." "Which guy in the white shirt? They're both wearing white shirts." "Black shorts, red shoes." (One was black one was white). Could he have not just said, "the white guy?" TL; DR Why are people so afraid to use someone's skin color to describe them? Tell me flood. Why? Do you try not to use someone's race or skin color when describing them? Is it not "politically correct"?
