Not everyone is wired like you and me though. I didn't always understand that. So I would say something to someone and it would piss them off, and I would be like, "I'm just kidding man". Once I almost got into a fight with a Mexican guy that I was very friendly with and had worked with for years because I jokingly said, "chinga tu madre" to him. I didn't mean anything by it, and I had said far worse to him in the past (in my mind anyway). But for him, his mom was off limits. I didn't know and I almost had to throw down because of it. Definitely not my intention. Knowing where to draw that line is important. When I don't know where that line is, I don't even chance it. As it relates to this case, there were probably a few people that didn't mean to be assholes, but most of them probably knew exactly what they were doing. I am not going to say that they were justified because I have thicker skin than most.
