Bungie has released no information at this time if the taken king will be available for free upgrade. There is a high chance it won't be. Mainly maybe because of the fazing out of last gen consoles. Which will happen within the next few years. Also last gen limits what next gen could do. The whole reason behind the previous two expansions was because the next gen consoles were new and they were helping people upgrade.
