http://newsoffice.mit.edu/2014/technical-feasibility-mars-one-1014
In 2012, the “Mars One” project, led by a Dutch nonprofit, announced plans to establish the first human colony on the Red Planet by 2025. The mission would initially send four astronauts on a one-way trip to Mars, where they would spend the rest of their lives building the first permanent human settlement. ... On the topic of maintaining oxygen for the on-Mars agriculture: As the air inside the habitat continued to leak, the total atmospheric pressure would drop, creating an oppressive environment that would suffocate the first settler within an estimated 68 days.
If you had the chance, would you go to Mars on a one way trip that you will surely die there in a very short time? And why/why not? While the article itself goes into fixes around some of the issues presented, let's pretend that it was an absolute that you are to die 68 days after arriving to Mars. Would you want to be remembered as one of the first 4 humans to step on Mars? To step on another planet? To have helped pave the road for future space exploration? Also, what if you could bring a loved one?

It would be nice to leave behind that sort of legacy. If I did go, I would never bring along my loved ones on a one way trip to the grave. I would go alone and endeavour to survive. I would spend every waking hour of those 68 days working towards my survival and the survival of the group.
With current technologies, I would not go. The mission would be impractical, needlessly costly and amateurishly done. I would rather have a self sufficient colony on Mars in 2045 than a costly, unreliable colony in 2025.
