Why would I? Aside from adds, which you may as well melee, what use does a shotgun have for the "bosses" (devil walker, valuus, arksor, etc) of strikes? All of them have a melee that, if too close, will leave you one hit... Not to mention, if you have piss poor luck, will leave you dead as you get thrown into a wall or rock.
