Atheism "enlightens" you just as much as any other religion out there. It's just another form a religion.

Atheism is not a religion it is the lack of one, thence the name.

Religion- A specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects. This is one of the many definition. And for the supernatural being that people call God or whatever they call him, a god be anything that any person(s) decides to worship or praise. Money can be seen as a "god" or "idol". According to atheism, their is no god, and he way something can be proven as factual, is if it can proven with science or any other approaches that are agreed upon by other atheists (ex. philosophical, social, historical, etc.). Really, that is what controls their actions, morals, and beliefs, which could be considered as some sort of "power" that dictates them. This is just my opinion though. I'm just trying to tell you how I see things. I respect your opinion, and I try to civil and logical every time I go into an argument. I might not be right, but at least I am civil, logical, or reasonable. I'm not that 13 year-old asshole who spouts poorly spelled insults and/or uses grammar that would even make a first grader cringe, and then have nothing to show for in the actual argument. I just want to get this across at least so you don't think I'm one of those bible thumpers who does not listen to opposing argument and sticks to what they believe in. If you believe atheism is what you say, that is fine. I might not agree with you, but I can least agree to disagree with you.

Your right that is one of the many definitions of religion however that is not the primary definition. The primary definition of a religion is "a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.". Or more simply a belief in a deity which atheism does not possess. Another definition you might wanna look up is faith as faith is the complete belief that something is true without any evidence supporting it. So when someone asks you to have faith their saying "I want you to believe in something no matter what despite nothing suggesting that it is true."

Pardon my absence, I had to do some things. Yes, my definition was not the primary definition of religion. I was trying to find a meaning that made the most sense, while trying to get my opinion across to others, that's all. And I know what faith means, I was just trying to explain how I see this argument, that's all. If you believe in your opinion, that is okay with me. A person has a right to his or her opinion on a subject. Some can be more right or wrong than others, while others are kind of hard to determine whether it is right or wrong. Opinions are all determined by you, no one else. Others might not agree, but in the end, it's still your opinion, and that's what matters. I hate getting into these type of debates. They always seem to, at least in my opinion, put a larger division between us all, which does not help us out at all. We as a people, need to put our differences aside in order to obtain the goals we want to achieve. If we don't, we are going to keep shooting ourselves in the damn foot and causing more issues with each other. Now with that out of the way, here's a bit of comic relief. If you believe that way, then that's fine. I'm not saying my opinion is right, I'm just trying to tell you, in a respectable manner, how I see things. We all have different ways of seeing things. Might not be right or wrong, but in the end it's just our opinion.

Yeah, I hate debating on this subject. It just seems to divide people more and more into smaller, separate groups, which is not what needs to be happening. We as a people, need to stop putting barriers in between ourselves if we want to move forward. This shit is just tearing us apart. If a religeon needs a god or object of worship then and atheism has no god or object of worship then atheism is not religeon.
