Depends on your interpretation of the allegory, whether you think anyone can really be enlightened, etc.
People interpret the allegory of the cave as meaning that it's possible to be locked into a false ideology and that you can find truth by learning a better one, people interpret the allegory as meaning we are locked into our experience of reality and at death we will finally leave the cave, and others still interpret the allegory as meaning there is ALWAYS the possibility that your percieved truth is an illusion; the latter view is pretty sad because it's essentially the belief that people can never reach enlightenment. The allegory of cave has stood the test of time because it supports so many interpretations.
