Uh, no.
It is a delusion of Western civilization that sees "Reason" as our greatest human capacity, and everything that is not "rational" as "irrational" and a product of ignorance.
The reason why people are still SPIRITUAL, is simple. Much of what makes us human and HEALTHY is NON-rational. The truly healthy and balanced person is both WISE---that is, sees things as they truly are---and he is also COMPASSIONATE. That is he cares for other people and all living things. Because he understands that allt hings are connected.
"Religion" is the only institution in our culture that teaches this non-rational part of what we need to be healthy.
Religion without Reason is blind. Reason without Religion is heartless.

However, I'm not religious and I never have been. I don't believe religion is necessary in order for a person to be a good person. To be fair, philosophy can offer everything religion does, but without belief in a god.
-
No it can't. ...and not all spritual systems require a belief in a "god" as the Western, Abrahamic religions understand "god". Far too often philosophy falls into the same rationalistic trap...and it becomes a matter of the blind attempting to lead the blind.
-
Depends on the philosophy.
-
Western philosophy? Not really. Eastern? All are deeply spiritual. Some are just theistic---Westerners understand theism. Others are theistic in ways that are foreign to Western minds. The rest are spiritual without being Theistic in ways that Western minds can grasp without deep comptemplative practice.
-
When I said philosophy I meant for it to be all encompassing. However, I was talking about eastern moreso than western.
-
Those are less "philosophies" than spiritual systems. Most of them just work from "god concepts" that are different from the Judeo-Christian, anthropomorphic, Creator/Judge. But they still have a god-concept buried in them if you broaden your notion of "God"...and know where to look.

What about Confucianism and Bushido?

Lack of knowledge on a subject does not make it irrational
