I loved doubles while it was here but you can definitely best a team of two with randoms, it happened like three times out the 5-6 games I played.

Your opponents were likely randoms too.

They were teams, it doesn't matter how much communication you have if the two randoms playing against you are better than you and know how to play skirmish.
