Can someone please explain to me why political and religious threads are even allowed?

  • Cos it's #offtopic. Anything goes. I've suggested they create a #serious like some other sites do for that kind of thing, but no one seems to care

  • Religion and political threads used to be bannable offense before the site update

  • They shouldn't be allowed at all, whether we get #serious or not. Most if not all of political/religious threads are counterproductive, just meant to start fights, express aggression, hatred, or try to belittle the opposite group.

  • That's true I guess. But then this is a video game forum. You could argue the whole damn site is counterproductive, #offtopic especially so. I don't like the flame wars that come about from them, but really that goes against the "play nice rule" and is down to bad moderating. Besides, sometimes, if you're really lucky, you can have a decent theological debate before the haters get in.
