He added a non-steam game or any program to his library and renamed it to "Destiny Alpha (Closed Demo)".

That is a possibility, but I don't think he would go through all that trouble. He is one of my close friends so I highly doubt he would do that. But it is a possibility. He's currently at work so I'll have to wait for a full clarification.

If there was a Destiny closed beta on Steam I think most game website would have said something today. It cant be secret if everyone on his friends list can see it.
