If you have an xbox 360, just install the game on the console. Same for the X1. If that doesn't work, clean your darned console. If that doesn't work, then you got a defective disk somehow. If it's new, than you just fail at using a 360/X1. =/

Edited by Spaceleviathan: 1/23/2015 7:43:44 PMThe game is installed. (I installed it on day one to avoid this sort of thing.) The console is as clean as I can make it without voiding the warranty. If it is a defective disk, I would like this company to do something about that. Thank you for your ongoing help.

You're welcome. Also, when you say disc read error, don't you mean the (insert name of Animal here) errors? If that's the case it's just connection errors rather than the disc.

Nope. When I say disc read error I quite literally mean disc read error. It's actually two errors in the same package. At first the game freezes and an Xbox dialog box pops up saying says problem loading content, then a second says problem reading disc try again.

Hmmm....without deleting your game save data, uninstall the game and if you even remotely think any of the game content (like the expansions) are corrupted, delete and re-download that and re-install the disc. If anything else, re-install the disc. If that doesn't work, maybe some data is corrupted and unreadable (hence the loading content pop-up),or it's never going to work on your console. XD If none of this works, then feel free to either replace the disc, or just give up on Destiny like you said. IMO I want to see how the next expansion is, and if it's just like the Dark Below...peace I'm out.

Thanks for your help. I was really frustrated last night and suggestions like "OH YOUR DISC IS JUST BAD" or " YOUR XBOX IS DIRTY" do not help troubleshoot errors that seem to coincide more with the drop of an update and less with something physically wrong with xbox. Especially when others on the forums have reported the same problem with non-physical copies It's nice to have someone suggest actual steps to follow.

I share similar feelings about HoW & TDB which is why it is really frustrating a month out from the drop last of the Expansions I've paid for, this game literally kicks the bucket for no reason other than an update. Last night I tried deleting, reinstalling (that is everything except for my save game file), clearing the cache, and even an obscure "Play another game for 20 minutes due to overlapping installs" tip i found on the forums from a Bungie rep. The game still froze. I just stopped and called it a night. I don't know why the disc would be a problem if it can install without error to the harddrive, but maybe it is. I'll try to find another but the likelihood of that is slim... Going to try playing again now, maybe time and use of the xbox for non destiny stuff has helped(not imagining it would but who knows).

You're welcome, and if you do want to get another disc, try trading it in without telling the clerk (like at GameStop) what's up and that may get you some money towards it. If you don't want to do that, just throw this copy away and buy another. Try to go for the Xbox One version if you're upgrading to that soon, but if the pass is on the 360 just buy it for that again.
