My parents used "lunch" and "dinner" interchangeably. Last meal of the day was/is called "supper". I, personally, don't refer to "lunch" as "dinner", but I do still say "supper" as opposed to "dinner".
Also, I prefer supper. I eat my biggest/tastiest meals then.

I like lunch especially since you can eat whatever you want and it helps you get through the rest of the day.
