The walking dead is really about what happens to people in a zombie apocalypse instead of the zombies. While the tv is decent at best the comics are a far superior option if choosing between the two.

Is that because they don't leave you at a cliff hanger that you knew was probably going to happen anyways?

The Tv show attempted to make itself different from the comics by adding different characters and different events like terminus never happens in the comics but the hunters do happen similar to the tv show. Also a lot of characters like Andrea and tyreese were ruined. The comics are overall better and aren't hindered by what can be shown on cable tv.

Soooo I may have missed an episode but what's up with what's his face from first episode of walking dead doing trying to find Rick etc? Is he in the comics or was he just another addition to the walking dead universe?

Yes Morgan is from the comics and played a similar role in the beginning of the series. But the way rick meets back up with him is different. It takes place with rick Carl and Abraham going back to ricks hometown to look for guns in the police station. rick just bit the guys throat out to protect Carl. And then rick finds Morgan in his house with his dead son chained up. Morgan then joins the group. The tv Morgan was just surviving and just happen to appear at Gabriels church and found their route so he will begin his search for rick and join back with the group.
