  • Have you ever played World of Warcraft? I hate to be a typical PC player and compare it to Destiny, however they have done a lot of things right. Of one which was the raid Looking For More or LFM system. What they would do is have a room where people sit who are looking to do the raid. As a raid leader, you could grab a player, and pull them into your group and them talk to them, inspect their player, and check their stats. Then, if you wanted to keep them, you left the LFM lobby, and started the raid. It didn't work like a COD or BF matchmaking system where you just jump into a huge room with a ton of randoms.

  • The only issue with that is that Bungie has shown us how far they wish to push a server. With a cap of around 16 it could be hard to find the good people and have to just deal with what's left. Honestly I've done the raids with randoms, and it wasn't nearly as enjoyable as with my set group, and I didn't know any of them prior to Destiny.

  • 16 would be more then enough. 4 or 5 in your fireteam, and looking at a lobby of 16 people sitting in the LFG. You stat check them, pull one into your group, talk to them on voice chat, and choose if you want to keep them or not. I agree, raiding with randoms is tough, but I have meet a few good, cool players on DestinyLFG.com and I still play with a few of them. It's how you meet new people.

  • Ok, but again, there is no "stat check" in the game as their is other then looking at gear. Seeing as this is a game that has the largest RNG based table spread out of 99% of the game, that is not going to tell you they are good or not. Just as an example, the first person to 32 on my friends list was someone I raided with once before, and he was downright terrible. The thing was he used the bounty glitch, got 4 Eris, and used the conversion for the shards. Even now I still see them struggling with the raid. I'm not saying it's not possible, but considering how the community has been as a whole, a lobby of 16 isn't enough. If they could figure out how to get in gear and at least bump it to 32, you could have a chance. With a limiting factor of how many large fire teams can join to make it possible to find more solo oriented players or people who don't already have a group. A lobby of fire teams of 4 isn't going to help the situation as most people don't want to just boot people. A lot of other work needs to be done to make an idea like this actually effective.

  • And the website already supports stat checking. Clearly it's an system they already have in place. They just choose to keep it on their website to increase traffic.

  • It supports stat checking, to a point. The records only go up until so many recent matches, other than that you are going by K/D and completions, which only tell you so much. Again, there is no perfect system for trying to find people for the raids, as people can have completions with decent looking stats but not be well suited for the raid for a number of reasons that could slow down progress for people to do the raids, which is one of the main reasons why the site would be helpful -if- it wasn't being turned into ranting central. In the beginning of the actual release you could find threads everywhere with people looking for groups, which would help them find those people. Now it's become an area that people do nothing but voice their concerns, regardless of how petty. I'm not worried that the system would be a failure, as it could work rather well for getting people who have yet to do the raid a way to accomplish the task, the problem is that with such large negativity would it even be used? Look at the team chat for PvP and Strikes and think about how rarely that has actually been used since it's been put in place. It's just given people another thing to complain about, which gives you insight on why Bungie may be reserved on creating a matchmaking or a LFM lobby for the raid.

  • K/D and completions for stat checking is a whole heck of a lot more than we have now. I'd love to be able to check just that info alone in game. The LFG matchmaking system wouldn't be used by tons and tons of people. Most people who play this game never raid, and less kill the final raid bosses wither it be Atheon two months ago or Crota this month. A vast majority of the players never killed Atheon,(minus the pushers.) However, out of raiders, I think a majority of them would go to the LFG system if it were in game, rather than spamming people with invites in the tower, hoping they will join you.

  • I agree that a lot of other things would need to happen to make this work. I did say in my OP that those 5 things were short versions of solutions to improve this game. Long versions are in my head. Just like the raid matchmaking. I know how I'd like it to run, similar to how it's been run in other games. A stat checking feature, which is pretty much universal in every other major FPS title, is one of those little details that would need to be added to make it work.
