How are you trying to remove it? I'm not an expert, but I would try to find out whether it's acidic or basic, then neutralize it with a substance of opposing ph in a chemical shower. Preferably one that would not harm the soldier.

I've tried that. It's melted down to a thin bony layer, one which is embedded in spike like growths into the patient's muscular nerves. Luckily, it seems unable to branch outward, making removal simple.
