It's a fandom (that the creators of the work) are able to look at and even mock themselves.
IMO, that's pretty impressive and honest.

Really? Oreimo condemns anime? Didn't know that, thought it was some rom com about a siscon.

In the story, it shows and highlights how otaku are disliked and misunderstood by mainstream Japanese culture and are considered "odd, strange and even perverse".

The medium doesn't seem to shy away from any social issue (including ones that it allegedly contributes to) such as NEETs and hikikomori.

Honestly anime is great. I'm a big fan, but being a fan comes with some pretty awful prejudices.

It's the obnoxious fans who are loud in their presentation of liking anime that give the whole crowd a bad rep.
