No you're absolutely right! The games on that console were by far the strangest for nintendo. You have multiple FPS's along with lude games such as Conkers Bad Fur Day. And then the share of mario games. I think back then the market was probably different, and Nintendo was definantly trying to be more competitive. If you look at the games being developed for newer Nintendo systems, its usually "safe bets". Tryed and true, you know you're going to have a plethora of Mario type games, a decent Zelda every few years (if we are lucky) and maybe (hopefully) a new Metroid? But to me it feels like the types of games Nintendo is putting out nowadays doesnt really match up to what the demographic wants, broadly speaking. Could be because Japan is somewhat isolated? Who knows? But the games from that era were very different than whats coming out in recent years.
