I have read some horrible advice in here. The fasted I have leveled a character is in 5 hours. You start the introduction to the story and then go straight into crucible. Crucible is faster and yields almost the same amount of xp. When the bounties become available make sure you go and get them. If you move any legendary from your vault to your character it will give you a bounty lead if the weapon has one. For example if I move the black hammer to my character and then back to my vault a bounty for 15 head shots with a sniper will appear. Once you reach level 10-15 start earth on hard and run past everything. Each mission can be finished in around 5 minutes because of your level. If you have a friend that can help get him to start the Mars missions for you since they give about 7000 xp per mission.
