  • Gut hooks aren't for cutting guts. They are for gutting an animal. You use the hook to cut the skin, muscle, and fat holding the guts in the body cavity. A gut hook is handy because you don't want to puncture any of the intestines while doing this. Check YouTube for videos on gutting deer.

  • Ya. As a hunter I just refer to them as guts. It's always fun explaining why my knife has that hook and watching someone's face as I describe the horrible aroma that's released if you puncture the stomach.

  • Surprisingly, intestine are pretty resilient. If you get your hands on some that have not been tampered with, you can pull them all out relatively easily.
