I've never see them either but I saw exotics drop from PVP.
I saw around 10 and most of them given to the lowest or the middle.

Yeah today I saw Gjallarhorn drop once and Ice Breaker once. I'm pretty sure exotics are more common tha shards and energies

I've seen exotics pretty often. I've gotten 3 myself. I wish the shards would pop up as often as strange coins and motes of light. PvE feels like a chore sometimes.
