I'll tell you what happens with FFXIV, which is a cross-gen game:
People despise PS3 users and ignore them. I would find that acceptable, since yes, our loading times are way faster, but no; It had to derivate to behavior comparable to racism.
Besides, do you even realize the ammount of ragekids that would pop up becauses of the advantage of nextgen over PS3 and Xbox360? I find the decision of separating every version quite acceptable.

Having played on 360 and One the game is directly better on 360 as you can't turn off the overblown volumetric effects on the One (and they are more detrimental than the reduced framerate on 360).
