  • I've tried to join a few. It's not very cut and dry as to how this all works, though. I'm not clear on the distinction between Clans and Groups, but when I tried joining Clans nobody replied to the requests. I then joined a couple of XBox One groups and have tried to join up with others that have posted. Unfortunately, it takes forever to type in a longer XB Live gamertag and then send them a friend request, wait for the accept and hopefully be able to join the game. I have a bunch of requests I sent that are still hanging in cyber space I guess because the people posting got their fill of first responders. I'm skeptical of posting my own request because I don't know all the jargon people are posting on the groups and what kind of response to expect. They all seem so specific as to what people are looking for. I'm a level 29 Hunter, but most people are asking for 30+ with specific gear, abilities or objectives in mind. I'm just trying to find some people to do the VOG, or Crota's End, or Weekly/Daily Heroic Strikes, maybe run the Crucible with, complete Exotic bounties with, etc. But I'm always two steps behind the postings.

  • You would be surprised at the amount of people willing to help other players out. Try posting your own thread in the recruitment forums. In there tell them what you are looking to do, what system, and your gamer tag.

  • A group is collective of players. In a group you can post topics that you other group members can see and reply to. It's a great place to meet others and set up fireteams. A clan is like a subset of a group. For example rooster teeth has a group here on bungie. Then with in the group they have a psn clan and a Xbox clan.

  • Thank you! That clears up that much for me, lol. I didn't realize they were actually inter-related like that. I had begun thinking of them as very separate entities, with clans being more of an 'elite' type of thing. I appreciate the clarification!

  • And to be honest all you get from joining a clan is the clan name on your player title card in game. On top of that clans are limited to 100 so it's possible to be part of a large group and never have the clan name show up because the clan is full.

  • Wow, that's kind of disheartening actually. You'd think a game as ambitious as Destiny with millions of players and a projected life expectancy of 10 yrs (so I've read, anyways) would allow larger clans than that. Or at least have ways to organize the multiplayer experience better.
