How so? Most creationists believe that the Earth was created by God 6000 years ago, and humans along with it.

Well most creationists are wrong, aren't they? You can still believe a god created the universe and still accept evolution as fact.

Creationism is specifically the creation of animals as mentioned in the Bible. Evolution is the polar opposite, that they became as they are through millions of years of natural selection.

True, but to believe that bacteria evolved into the complex organisms that we are today in a mere 6000 years is also ignorant. The ignorance never ends :)

Historians and Biblical scholars have traced family lines of people in the Bible, and calculated their life spans. If the Bible is believed to be true, then the Earth is approximately 6000 years old. You are however, correct that many Christians that believe in evolution do believe that the Earth is very old.
