- Never buy materials because I can farm them far quicker than I can get the marks to buy them.
- The marks I do get are used to buy legendary weapons/armor that are quickly dismantled to energy/shards so I can upgrade the gear I already have. So annoying. Just put shards/energy on a damn vendor and charge marks for them already. It's the same bloody thing we're already doing minus the annoyance of having to dismantle things.

Farm quicker? Do the nightfall, heroic, and daily, complete all the bounties for that day for both vanguard and eris morn (make sure you pick up bounties first to complete as your doing the other activities), and you should have accrued enough marks to purchase 80-100 mats. I doubt you can farm that many mats in the same time frame, even if you get a few chests that give out 9-10 mats. I usually have half of the allotted weekly marks on day 1 of each refresh. Only takes about an hour for me to do all of that, unless i have to go planet hopping for the different bounties, which takes a little longer. I even grab a few mats along the way as I complete the tasks. There is no way you can farm 100 mats in that same time frame.

I think he is referencing there is a cap on marks not on farming.

Each of the nightfall, heroic and dailys are going to run an average of 15 minutes each depending on your fireteam and afkers, etc. You're going to have to go to orbit and back for each so that's about 3-5 minutes of watching floaty ships (load screens) between each run so let's just say an hour total for that part... The bounties I do while I'm farming anyhow so they're kind of moot time-wise but let's say it takes about 30-45 minute to do them depending on how many planets/strikes they require to visit them all. So for your method it'd take about 105 minutes. I can easily get 50 mats per hour, so I'd have roughly 90 mats in the same time frame you're suggesting... That's probably on the low end but not the issue I was trying to highlight anyhow. By farming them, I'd still have all my marks to use to buy gear (for shards/energy) as needed since I wouldn't have to waste them on materials. My point is that when I need 16 materials to do an upgrade, I can easily get them in 5-10 minutes of chest farming. I'm not sure why people saw this as such a hardship. Even more mind-boggling is why Bungie decided to take away the ability to sell materials to the vendors which was in the game from day frickin' one. Almost every other game in existence allows you to sell just about every item you loot to vendors to get cash which can then be used to buy other things to improve your characters. Kind of like real life... You get/do something that others are willing to give you money for then you use that money to buy other things you want, right?

Your time allotment is really skewed. 15 minutes for nightfall is fair, but weekly heroic and daily won't even touch 15 minutes combined. As for loading time, 3-5 minutes is waaay too long. Are you on dial-up?! Maybe 3-5 minutes of total load time for all the runs, but not after each load up. And if you stop at the tower first and collect your bounties, you will be completing them as you do the nightfall, herioc, etc. The only real bounties that may take extra runs are the Target bounties and planet specific patrol missions. Most days you can complete 3-4 bounties in one run. My quickest go for a day completing everything with my fireteam was about 45-50 minutes. That's pretty fast, considering you get one set of 16 mats for the daily, any you scrounge up during your run, and all the marks you collect after your total run is done. You can easily get no less than 40 marks doing all of that, which will buy you 80 mats, which will max out one armor piece. And that's not including any mats you grab along the way. But that's just how I do it. If you yourself can farm mats that fast as well, more power to you. But I need to follow you to all these chests you're opening, since they seem to be always giving you more than just 2 in a crate, lol.
