It was a good adaptation.no film can directly copy a book.
If lotr copied everything they would be way too long

^This. I always get pissed when people bitch about a movie not following the book word for word. It's just not possible to do with a film. Also sometimes things that work well in a book don't come out very well on film and have to be altered. As long as the film stays close to the book I don't have issues with changing things, as long as it's not completely butchered (Eragon).

There is still The silmarillion that's a good book too

I'm not moaning just stating a fact BTW there are more books in the series they can still make films about. I love the films and the books

I know you're not moaning, I was agreeing with you! And yes, there's The Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales as well as others. Unfortunately the Tolkien estate only released the rights to LotR and The Hobbit, so there won't be any other films based on Tolkien's works unless they release the rights to the other books. Some of the stuff that happened in The Hobbit films was taken from canonical Tolkien lore outside of The Hobbit, though. Mainly the whole subplot with the White Council fighting the Nazgûl and the Necromancer in Dol Guldur.

I have the whole collection

I have LotR and The Hobbit. Most of what I know of the other works I've learned from the LotR Wiki.
