The V.O.G is still important.
The V.O.G is still important for every type of gamer except the hardcore gamers who have already -blam!- Crota on hard.
Its a necessary raid for leveling a new character up, and obtaining shards to upgrade dat loot. Just think about the new players who are recieving Destiny on Christmas day. Ive completed it a couple of times yet I still enjoy and wont attempt Crotas end till I reach 31.
Last night I reached level 30 with the help of a random fireteam of 29's and 30's and it felt really good to do the templar first try and Atheon in 2 attempts.
Anyone agree? Disagree?

I agree iv only done vog normal twice so I never bought the dlc because of that. If I couldn't get time to do vog and get materials when would I ever get time for tdb. I really really need ascendant materials.

9 RepliesI've done the raid on normal and hard after the DLC and have received nothing but energies and shards. I haven't even seen a weapon drop for anyone after the DLC

I agree, VoG is only useful for people who haven't already done the raid enough times to have a large amount of ascendant materials stashed away.

I'll still run the Vault ever week. 1) free, easy loot. 2) levelling alts 3) exotics 4) FUN! Trying to perfect the Vault. The only thing that's hindering me is fireteam members running off on their own in the maze :-|

2 RepliesVoG continues to be relevant because it is fun. Sure I will prioritise CE raid until I have a few new weapons and have the armour to get to L32, ... it's new and therefore more interesting for me at the moment (I've not had time to finish it yet). But after that I will split my time between both raids depending on my mood. I understand that there are those who want to race to the level cap and get all weapons in the fastest possible time. And that's great ... Good luck to them. To those people VoG is now irrelevant for the most part. I count myself as a casual gamer, and for me while I am as goal oriented as the next RPGer, I'd choose fun over an RNG chance at better loot every day of the week.

If you don't have ALL of the raid weapons or ANY shards/energy, then yes, it is important.

1 ReplyI got loads of shards yesterday doing the VoG while helping my friend get the raid done. Also managed to pick up a Patience and Time from the exotic chest.

7 RepliesUnless you want all the guns that do less damage, there really isn't a reason since Bungie didn't do anything to boost the content to level 32. You can buy level 31 gear, you can upgrade an exotic helmet or chest piece and will be level 31. It's only relevant for those that want to fight Atheon or need ascendant material.

I tell this to people, then I hear the idiots say "oh but you dont want those, they are capped at 300". I dont care if they are capped at 300. I dont have an Ice Breaker or Gjallarhorn. I would do a lot to get one, upgraded or not.

Only needed for non-new ppl if you need to farm ascendant materials.

The funny thing is the raid doesn't give XP and tower gear gives you higher light than VoG loot. Just do strikes and buy vanguard gear
